After Harvey broke the record recently, I decided to throw together a quick sieve just for the sake of doing it - my current search has been dragging on for the best part of a year, and I wanted to break up the monotomy. I threw the sieve together and sieved the range 10^(75000*2+6)+10^75000*P7+1 where P7 is a 7 digit palindrome. After sieving for a day and a half, I threw the numbers at PFGW, though I knew that (a) it was going to be two weeks of PRPing, and (b) for an even chance of a prime, about 200 days PRPing was required. But if you don't look you will never find, eh? It was a neat Christmas present from Poisson. > As with Harvey's previous record, I think that these trinomials can be > crunched quicker by using Phil C's own C program ;-) An intriguing idea; what does Phil say on this?
